The Telefónica Arena Madrid has a 30,000m2 surface area that can be completely adapted from one extreme to the other depending on needs. The stadium has an 11,000m2 cupola that was created in a three-dimensional structure. It is capable of bearing large loads, supported by 181 piles and replete with an impressive skylight that can be opened to let in natural light.
The Telefónica Arena Madrid is laid out over three floors (access, middle and ground) fully interconnected with conventional stairs, escalators and elevators. The middle floor contains public facility areas and is connected -through a tunnel- to the Glass Pavilion (Pabellón de Cristal) (19,196m2). The ground floor contains the spaces reserved for athletes, artists, …: changing rooms, dressing rooms, rooms for the press and the authorities, etc.
The central court: Its main feature could well be the presence of three retractable stands that house a total of 10,500 seats. This mobility allows it to be adapted to very large-scale platforms for larger stages, more exhibition zones, sports fields, etc., with the total area changing between 970 and 2,320m2.
This retractable feature gives the pavilion great versatility when holding large events, as the spaces can be adapted to a great range of different layouts.
The seating for this pavilion for sports events and shows amounts to a capacity of up to 12,000 people with a total surface area for fairs and exhibitions of 6,400m2.
Furthermore, the Telefónica Arena Madrid has the Satellite Pavilion, with a seating capacity for sports events and shows of up to 1,700 people and a total surface area for fairs and exhibitions of 2,104 m2 that -along with the Glass Pavilion- rounds out any possible requirement for any type of event
