Matadero Madrid

Matadero Madrid, devoted to contemporary creative art, is one of the most innovative cultural spaces in the capital.

As a centre for experimentation and artistic reflection, it has become a meeting point for professionals, creators and the public alike. Its nine units comprise one architectural whole and accommodate institutions such as Intermediae (social culture and innovation), Cineteca (documentary film-making), the Naves del Español (theatre), Nave de Música, Central de Diseño (sponsored in conjunction with DIMAD, the Madrid Designers' Association), and Casa del Lector (Fundación Germán Sánchez Ruipérez).

Located in a former slaughterhouse and cattle market (1908-1928), on a site occupying over 61,000 square metres, its structure is a clear example of new Madrid architecture. It is located a short distance away from Madrid Río Park, one of the largest urban remodelling projects undertaken in recent years.
