Madrid Destino is the company responsible for managing and promoting tourism in the capital.

Tourism is the primary industry behind Madrid’s economic prosperity. Madrid Destino thus works to promote Madrid as an international tourist destination, managing Madrid’s tourism resources through a process of continuous improvement to optimise the use of the City Hall’s economic resources, working with public-private partnerships as the main vehicle to achieve this.

In a context in which tourism stands out as one of the principal factors – if not the primary one – of economic development (leading to the creation of jobs and wealth in Madrid), Madrid Destino has responsibility for planning and managing tourism promotion policies.

The work to promote Madrid and to consolidate the image of the capital both within Spain and outside its borders is supported by the official website, esMADRID.com, and focuses on specific activities, such as attending professional trade fairs and forums, and marketing, advertising and communication campaigns.

One of its primary goals is to position Madrid as a major destination for business and conference tourism. Madrid Destino has a specific body, the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB), for this purpose.

In addition, Madrid Destino welcomes and attends to visitors through 11 permanent Tourist Information Centres and Points, temporary information desks at congresses, fairs and one-off events, and through specific tourist information campaigns.

It also operates a wide-ranging Programme of Official Guided Tours, the Madrid City Tour tourist bus and the Madrid Card tourist pass, providing visitors with a variety of alternatives through which they can discover and enjoy Madrid’s tourist attractions.
